Eli Kalil – Chair. Graduate of Kent State University and owner of a small marketing business called E Kalil & Co LLC.
Eli attended the Ashtabula Area City Schools until his sophomore year of high school where he transferred to and graduated from Edgewood Senior High School. During his time as an Edgewood Warrior, Eli participated in many community service projects, received multiple academic awards of excellence, and was one of the school’s five 1,000-point scorers in its basketball history. Upon graduation, Eli attended Hiram College for a year where he studied Political Science and was a member of the Division 3 men’s basketball program.
After his freshman year of college, Eli was offered a position on the Ohio Together Campaign as a Field Organizer. He then transferred to KSU and began studying Applied Communication. Following the 2016 presidential election, Eli accepted a job offer to work in the Ohio Senate as a Legislative Aide. While working in Columbus, he also served as the Deputy Communications Director for the Ohio Young Democrats, was Vice-President of the Ashtabula County Young Democrats, and a staffer for the Ohio Democratic Women’s Caucus. Upon his return home, Eli spent time working in the Student Services department at Kent State at Ashtabula, as a Deputy Treasurer in the Ashtabula County Treasurer’s office, a Management Trainee at Andover Bank, and has served in multiple capacities on various campaigns.
Eli is currently the Deputy Jury Commissioner at the Ashtabula County Court of Common Pleas and is currently a board member for the Ashtabula County Family YMCA and Ashtabula Area Orchestra Society. He serves on the events committee for the Greater Ashtabula Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Ashtabula Kiwanis Club, Ashtabula NAACP, Elks Lodge #208, Sons of Italy, Ashtabula County Farm Bureau and is a practicing member of faith at Saint Joseph’s Church. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his significant other, playing basketball, and reading books.
Kalil was born on September 4th, 1996 in Ashtabula, Ohio and recently received his master’s degree in Public Administration from Kent State University. He has served as Chairman of the Ashtabula County Democratic Party since June, 2020.
